In 2016 I had to go to New York for work. It was something of a flying visit, landing on Monday and heading off Thursday afternoon, so there was not much time for exploring photography. I still managed to get a few shots after work primarily on the Lower East Side where we were staying. I walked around the Sara D. Roosevelt Park, a peculiar park that is a block-wide but about five or more blocks long covering gardens, basketball and football (soccer) spaces and a few other bits and pieces.

Katz’s Delicatessen
Famous around the world, Katz’s deli is an institution. Locals and tourists blend in the busy, friendly space. Even Spider-Man is known to drop by for pastrami.
The food is incredible.
1991 museums
Years before the 2016 work week on the Lower East Side, the same city showed up on a childhood itinerary. Two stops from that trip now have their own stubs:
- Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum — 46th St & 12th Ave, carrier decks and cold war hardware on the Hudson.
- American Museum of Natural History — Central Park West, including the Hayden Planetarium as it was in the early 1990s.
